Young Duck
Basic information about the Young Duck
The trade company Vodňanská drůbež, a.s. is the only duck meat processor in the Czech Republic. The company presents it under the trade mark of the Vodňany Duck (Vodňanská kachna), and thus brings a unique product – the Young Duck – to your table. The Young Duck of Vodňany is a specially developed breed whose typical feature is a high portion of breast muscles. The prolonged fattening period makes its meat more mature, which then acquires a characteristic delicious taste. Currently, the duck is consumed all year round, in portions or as a whole, and its consumption steadily increases thanks to the low fat percentage. It is a well-known fact that duck fat contains unsaturated fatty acids, which decrease the blood pressure as well as the risk of heart diseases.
Permanently checked production process
The ducks originate exclusively from our own closed breeding farms and the closed breeding farms of our contractual partners in the Czech Republic. The entire production process and the product distribution is continuously monitored by the permanently posted state veterinary service. The multi-stage workflow control guarantees the high quality and the safety of our products.
Farming and fattening
The ducks come only from closed veterinary-checked Czech breeds, with long experience in aquatic poultry farming. The fattening is carried out in up-to-date halls, on deep litter, with fully automated operation, comprising the feeding, watering, ventilation and heating systems to ensure complete welfare.
Slaughter and processing
The processing is carried out in up-to-date operation premises specialised in slaughtering aquatic poultry. The operation premises meet all veterinary and food-processing standards of the EU and hold the IFS and HACCP certificates.
Product
The trade mark of the Vodňany Duck comprises a wide portfolio of products, such as the whole duck, duck portions and giblets, both chilled and frozen. Further, we produce a broad range of specialities, e.g. the Original Czech Duck Headcheese and Sous vide roasted meats.
Distribution
The supply of fresh chilled ducks is conducted regularly, three times weekly all around the year, within the whole of the Czech Republic. Frozen ducks are supplied daily, and part of our production is exported within the whole EU.
Meat quality
Quality meat is based on observing the welfare of the animals, up-to-date carcass dressing, thorough chilling and multi-phase quality control. Thanks to this, the trade mark of the Vodňany Duck guarantees the highest quality of products supplied to the market.
